"A Jewel"

I lost a jewel from my grip just once,
the glimmer you would not deny,
life will grant you glimpses of paradise,
but rarely allow a chance back by,
though selection can cloud the interest,
when the heart's too young to see,
the jewel a fool forgets to treasure,
became the wish that would not be,

Will a star to shoot and watch it,
and pray that dream won't flee,
stars rarely fly but when they do,
I'm wishing the jewel with me,
so fierce, so fine, and so divine,
a gift beneath the earth,
as jewels can be, through you I see,
you're blind to all your worth-
